Breasties Retreats
Our retreats are welcoming peer-to-peer spaces created and run by breast cancer survivors for women who have received a breast cancer diagnosis, at any stage of their experience. They are intentionally held outside a clinical setting, creating an opportunity to connect with others who understand, without appointments, treatment plans or the need to explain every part of your story.
Each retreat is different and may include facilitated group conversations, personal reflection and wellbeing experiences such as meditation, sound healing, gong sessions, yoga or other immersive activities. Some moments may feel uplifting and energising, while others may be emotional, reflective or unfamiliar. Everyone experiences the day differently, and you are always welcome to step out, observe or choose not to participate in any activity, without explanation.
Our retreats are not clinical and do not provide counselling, psychological support or medical advice. Their purpose is to offer genuine connection, shared understanding and time away from the medical side of breast cancer. Our retreats regularly sell out and move across South East Queensland, allowing women from different communities to experience the support and connection they provide.
Every retreat is run on a 100% not-for-profit basis and is intentionally offered at a heavily subsidised cost to keep it accessible to as many women as possible. This is made possible through fundraising, donations, sponsorship, donated goods and services, and the significant unpaid time and personal commitment of the breast cancer survivors who organise each event. A great deal of care, planning and behind-the-scenes work goes into creating every retreat.
We share this information so you can arrive knowing what to expect, understand the heart and effort behind the day, feel comfortable making your own choices and experience the retreat in the way that feels right for you.

We’re not medical professionals and will NEVER offer medical advice (seriously, for that you’ve got your oncology team), but we are fellow travelers who’ve been in your shoes and we’ve built this place just for you.
Non‑Profit Retreats & Community:

Built for life during and after treatment, these low‑cost days blend honest conversation, practical guidance, and time to breathe. Most importantly, they create real connection—meeting women who “get it” and forming bonds that last long after the day ends.

We believe in what we sell and keep the range tight—no overwhelm, just what helps. Maria's Story
At 39, Maria’s world was turned upside down with a diagnosis of locally advanced, hormone-positive breast cancer—after a delayed diagnosis caused by a misread GP report. Sadly, it’s a story many women know too well. What followed was radical surgery, months of treatment, and eventually, remission.
But once treatment ended, the silence set in. The appointments stopped, the support tapered off, and Maria discovered a truth few talk about: the hardest part often comes after cancer, when young women can feel most isolated and unseen.
Determined to create what she could never find for herself, Maria joined forces with The Quiet Courage Foundation to launch Breasties Retreats—peer-led, affordable day retreats designed to bring thrivers and survivors together. These retreats offer a safe space to speak openly, rebuild confidence, and form lasting bonds with people who truly get it.
Alongside the retreats, Maria also set out to reimagine another gap she had experienced firsthand: the shopping journey. After her own dreary, dated, and overwhelming experience trying to find mastectomy products, she envisioned a modern, supportive alternative. The result is Breasties Hub—a carefully curated range of trusted essentials including mastectomy wear, swimwear, prostheses, and accessories, plus discreet, confidence-building bra and prosthesis fittings with a qualified fitter who is also a survivor. No gatekeeping. No awkwardness. Just practical support and compassion from someone who has walked the same path.
Beyond these initiatives, Maria has become a passionate advocate for change—using her voice to push for earlier detection, better patient support, and faster access to life-saving treatments. From sharing her story at Parliament House to speaking at intimate community events, she is carving out a growing role in the advocacy space, helping shape conversations and open doors for others to follow.
